Working with lists

Every table in the console - instances, jobs, users, firewall rules, a database's modules - is the same list, and works the same way. What you change on a list is kept on your account, so it opens the same way on every browser you sign in from.

Sorting

Click a column heading to sort on it, and again to turn the order round. Shift+click another heading to add it to the sort: the first column decides, the second breaks ties, and each sorted heading shows its place in the sort. A plain click goes back to sorting on one column.

A list the server pages, such as the firewall log, sorts on one column at a time.

Filtering

Under each heading is a filter box. Type to find text anywhere in that column, or start with a comparison:

Start withMeaningExample
=exactly this=running
!=anything but this!=running
!rows that do not contain this!stopped
>, >=, <, <=larger, later or longer than this>1 GB, >=2026-10-01, <5 minutes

A comparison reads the value as the cell shows it, in the Regional settings on your account's Interface tab: sizes in KiB, MiB and GiB (or KB, MB and GB in decimal units), numbers in your number format, dates in your date format (and always in the 2026-10-01 form as well), durations and versions. With binary units, a GB you type means the same as a GiB. A date is the span you typed: =2026-10-01 is that whole day, and >2026-10-01 starts the day after.

Columns with a fixed set of values - a state, a status, a result, a severity - have a drop-down instead of a box. The number of active filters shows beside the list's toolbar, with a button that clears them all.

Columns

The column button at the top right of a list opens its column picker:

  • Show and hide columns with their switches. A column that is always shown is named under the list instead. Some columns start hidden so the others fit, such as Completed on the Jobs list; switch one on here to see it.
  • Move a column with its arrows, or drag a heading by its grip along the row.
  • Resize a column by dragging the edge of its heading. The columns share the card's width, so widening one narrows its neighbour.
  • Reset to defaults puts this list's columns, widths, order and compact rows back to how it ships.

Rows

Every list opens with 25 rows per page until you pick a size with the Rows selector below it. The sizes are 10, 25, 50, 100 or All; a list the server pages offers 25 to 1000 and no All. You can change the 25 for every list at once on your account's Interface tab, under Lists. A list you picked a size on keeps it.

Type a page number in the box between the arrows and press Enter to go there. The arrows go round: back from the first page is the last.

Compact rows in the column picker draws that list tighter. Use for every list makes its choice the default for every list without one of its own; the same default is the Compact rows switch on your account's Interface tab. Compact rows never apply on a phone.

Saved views

The column picker keeps up to five named views of a list: the columns, their widths and order, the sort and the filters. Type a name and press Enter to save the list as it is now; a name a view already has replaces it. Click a view to show the list that way again - the view the list matches exactly is marked. The bin beside a view deletes it.

Keyboard

Tab reaches a list's rows in one stop, on the row you visited last. Then:

KeyDoes
Up, DownMove between rows; Up from the first row goes to the filter boxes, Down from a filter box comes back
Home, EndGo to the first or the last row
EnterOpen the row, as a click does
SpaceSelect the row, on a list with selection; Shift+Space selects a range
fJump to the first filter box

The keys only work on a row that has the focus, so typing anywhere else is never taken over. The headings and the filter boxes stay under the top bar while a long list scrolls.

Copy and export

The copy button puts the list - as filtered and sorted, with the columns shown - on the clipboard as tab-separated text, which pastes straight into a spreadsheet. The export button downloads the same rows as a CSV file; on a list the server pages it downloads the whole matching set, not just the page you see.

Putting lists back

Your account's Interface tab has two buttons under Lists:

  • Reset to defaults puts the columns, widths, column order, rows per page and compact rows of every list back to how they ship, along with the two defaults. Saved views are kept.
  • Delete saved views deletes every view saved in every list's column picker.
